PHS Girls Varsity Basketball Faced Off Against McAllen Memorial Mustangs
Palmview High School’s girls varsity basketball faced a tough opponent against McAllen Memorial Mustangs on January 24, 2017. They lost an exciting game by a score of 53-34. The basketball team is practicing as much as they can in order to be prepared for the upcoming games.
“My biggest accomplishments during the game was scoring two three pointers,” said Sara Flores.
Even though, the team lost the game the team members were still giving it their all and trying to make the most of it. The students played a good game and didn’t let the ending score affect their mindset.
“There were referee calls I didn’t agree with, because there was clean stuffs by my teammates who are posts. Although, they made this call there is nothing to do but play harder by taking the lead,” said Flores.
Flores said that although she didn’t agreed with the referee calls; she knows that all she can do is play harder on the next game.
“One challenge I faced during the game was not being able to make my shots. I solved it by doing my best to stay calm and focus on my shooting form,” said Flores.
The members often have hard time concentrating on the game. In order to do this they “prepare their mind” by “feeding [themselves] positive thoughts.”
The girls basketball team are working hard in order to get the winning score in the next game.
